Even more figures~

I'm trying to paint and use color more within my sketches, so this is attempt number one. The watercolor sketch is a 20 minute pose.

As for the other two, they are 10 minute poses using plain ole' graphite. We have a new model who's really good with gestural poses.

I've been studying hard from Vilppu's Drawing Manual. I wonder if people can tell the difference? I've noticed that I am more structurally sound now, at least.

Animal sketches

Yesterday, I sketched lots of animals from this public park near my house. A few quick gestures of some chickens, pheasants and a cow, as well as more patient 'studies' of the pigs that were passed out in their pens. Cute animals. :)

Some 20 minutes and a self portrait

This is the first time I have attempted an online art blog. Hopefully I can regularly update this with various sketches and artwork every week. *crosses fingers*

On the left are two 20 minute drapery and figure drawings that I thought were successful. On the right is a self portrait I completed for John Clapp's class last semester. We had to base the theme of the portrait around a word that described ourselves, and I chose the word "disheveled". I portrayed that word by literally scribbling in ball-point pen. The darker the area, the more I scribbled; the lighter the area, the less condensed the scribbles were. I really enjoyed making it; it was probably the most relaxing piece I made for the class.
