Art dump

Here are some various Visual Development roughs. The first is the interior of a treehouse, and the second is a kitchen design based on Gary Soto's short stories. I'm going to redo these over break, so we'll see how they'll improve.

I also had to design a leprechaun for the Spartan Daily.

Some weird scribbles with a self portrait thrown in for good measure. Yeah~

Stupid dog

Fairly old... I keep thinking I will finish this, but truth be told, the more I fiddle with it the less complete it feels, so I'm just going to end it here.
More and more I keep leaning towards character design. But I think I'll keep practicing Viz Dev for now (which I'm finally taking this semester), and see where that takes me.

Flash art~

Here are some character designs and clean-up I did in Flash 8.0.

Also, we got a new kitten! We named him Canaan... mostly because he is a light golden tabby, and it reminded us of milk and honey, so we decided to name him after the land of milk and honey.
And I swear, at this moment, I am going to kill him, because he keeps jumping up on the dinner table and stealing food. No matter how many times I squirt him with water, he simply won't stop. >.<

Yeah, I decided to post up a bunch of my old pencil tests, as rough and beginner as they may be. I still don't know if I want to become a character animator or not. At any rate...

This is a sack pantomine from last year. Very simple, but decent considering this was my first semester ever truly animating.

The next assignment was to make a cat jump. Oh yes, the cat will jump, for that is what he'll do.

Finally, we had a weekend to put together a pencil test of whatever we wanted to animate. I never fully finished it, and the last half is just keys, but I still like the first half. It's pretty stupid, though.

At the moment of this post, I have ten more days to finish my final 30 second film (which is rapidly become 30+ seconds, but I digress... >.<). I'll post that up once it's "finished", although I plan on working on it over winter break so maybe I can have it finalized next semester. Wish me luck! :3

Exercise in class where we had to make a matte medium collage using bits of our own artwork. I didn't feel like printing out anything special, so I used some leftover photocopies of figure studies and on-site gestures as my bits.

Pastel Sketches

I've always liked the texture of pastels, so I've been trying to improve myself in that medium. Here are a few 'successful' pastel sketches. They're all either drawn from observation or using imagination.

I've started Conceptual Illustration with Barron Storey, and I must say, I'm really enjoying it. ^_^ Our first assignment was to develop a portrait of a rising star. I chose Ellen Paige, and this is the finished portrait I made for her. We had to make several "roughs" before we got to the finished piece, so I posted the roughs underneath. All of these were created using photographic scrap (since I can't get Ellen to pose for me >.<), so all credit for the poses, etc. are copyright to the respective photographers and/or movie production. I only drew the images.
